An Urgent Care Story: American Family Care

As one of the largest privately owned urgent care operators in the U.S., American Family Care  (AFC) has been serving patients in the Southeastern region for over 30 years. After a merger with Doctors Express in 2014, they now have over 140 locations nationwide.

AFC made the choice to switch to DocuTAP in 2012 after their previous EMR was forcing them to partially document on paper. AFC uses DocuTAP’s electronic medical records, practice management software, and Enterprise Dashboard for reporting. Since the transition, they have saved an average of 10 to 15 minutes on each patient visit.

“I literally had goosebumps on my arms. This is what I’ve been looking for!” said Dr. Glenn Harnett, Chief Medical Officer. “I can truly say that I couldn’t be happier with our decision to utilize the DocuTAP system.”

Despite such rapid growth, AFC has remained true to their values of providing quality and affordable care to patients and their families.
