Most of us have experienced how the right technology can smash through roadblocks and take our businesses to new levels. Technology is one thing, but what about the roadblocks that we construct in our minds? How many times have we wondered, “Can I go further, grow faster, see one more patient, or work to ensure one more satisfied client?”
We all want to grow, but how?
On a recent trip to Ghana I witnessed answers to these questions in action. The key is the right technology and faith that growth can happen in leaps and bounds. I went to Ghana to oversee the implementation and launch of DocuTAP’s custom EMR system for Sanford World Clinics. It was the first time that DocuTAP’s software was implemented in Africa and one of the first EMR systems in Ghana. Everyone’s goal was to help the clinic better manage their community’s medical needs. Within two days the physicians learned how to navigate iPads with DocuTAP software. However, the real excitement was the speed at which the clinic advanced in patient care. Suddenly, this two-physician team could see 300 patients in a day. Patients went from waiting for hours to just 20 or 30 minutes.
The right technology is key. But successful growth also takes what I now refer to as a ‘leaps and bounds’ mentality where as leaders we prepare for great things and expect our technology partners to help us get there. When I witnessed the physicians in Ghana overcoming roadblocks I knew that if they can do it, you can do it.
